Authenticity, humility, and professionalism are the qualities that we wanted to represent our tapestry collection. These words also perfectly describe Toots Thielemans. A man who was unfailingly friendly, eternally modest, and always willing to have a chat with anyone—regardless of their ‘station’ in life, even though he played with some the world’s greatest musicians. Because performing miracles with the harmonica was precisely what he did so beautifully, making an ‘ordinary’ instrument extraordinary. We were so proud that he consented to the use of one of his photos in our tapestry collection and so honored to be able to convey his authenticity, humility, and skills to the rest of the world.
